Comparing IELTS to TOEFL scores is like comparing apples to oranges. However, you can use Total Score Comparison Tool as a benchmark.

There is no answer to this question, but certain characteristics may make one test more appealing to you than the other.
In the speaking section of the IELTS you speak to a real person, while in speaking section of TOEFL you speak to your computer (you just record your voice). So, ask yourself which one you prefer.

IELTS offers the option of taking the test either on paper or on a computer, while TOEFL is a fully computer-based test.
As for the question types in the Reading and Listening sections, TOEFL is only multiple choice while IELTS offers a variety of question styles.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It is important for visa application processes and higher education.

The IELTS measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It tests Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

Listening: 4 recordings, and 40 questions. 30 minutes + 10 minutes transfer time. Tests ability to understand the main ideas and detailed factual information.

Reading: 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes. Tests ability to read quickly and accurately extract information.

Writing: 2 sections, 20 minutes each.
General: Tests your ability to write a letter and write an argumentative essay.
Academic: Tests your ability to extract data from graph or chart and write an argumentative essay.
Speaking: 3 sections, 11-14 minutes.
Tests your ability to carry a conversation about personal as well as specific given topics.

The IELTS Academic and General Training test results are reported using the same nine-band scale.
