SAT vs ACT: Which Test is Right for You?

Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most American colleges accept both and do not prefer one test over the other. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Neither the SAT or ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test over the other.

About ACT

Frequency: 7 times/year
Duration: 2 hrs, 55 minutes (plus 40 minutes if taking ACT with writing)
Section: English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing (optional)
Cost: $150.00 (without writing) / $166.50 (with writing)
Max Score: 36

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test. You can think of this test as an alternative to SAT.

The Lebanese American University (LAU) accepts ACT scores. If you submit ACT scores, you don't need to submit SAT scores.

The Official ACT exam is offered in September, October, December, February, April, June, and July in Lebanon.

Each section of the ACT is scored on a 1 to 36 point scale. Your composite ACT score is the average of your four section scores, also on a scale from 1 to 36. If you take the ACT with Writing Test, you will receive a separate score on the Writing Test.

Registration deadlines fall approximately five weeks before each ACT test date. You can register online on the ACT website. (https://global.act.org/)
